Day 2 turned out to be one more good day for home team and KP got century to join the list of the captains who scored century in 1st match as captain. That’s not the point but it felt like he is leading by example and that century was so much required after losing wickets quickly. Collingwood and Harmison too contributed with bat and it’s a shame that Harmison could not get his 50. South Africa lost their captain early in the innings to put England on top. SA are trailing by 85 runs at the end of day 2 and England has real good chance if they can bowl well today.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India could not make use of toss and fell very cheaply. Except Gambhir, no one stood tall and thanks to Ishant and Zaheer (more than 50 run partnership), they could even reach a score of around 250.
India got a early breakthrough leaving opener Vandort and night watchman Vaas at the crease. If India have to stay in the game, they need some quick wickets while SL would be hoping for couple of good partnership to score a good lead in 1st innings.

Everything went right for KP including the decision of bringing Steve Harmison back into the team and opening attack with him. More importantly KP seem to be enjoying his new role and using resources like Flintoff very well. England Bowlers has done their bit for the 1st innings and it’s now upto Batsman to take it forward. England are batsman short but Broad should fill in that role.

As usual India made a comeback after losing 1st match and Day 4 of 2nd test was almost repeat of Day 4 of 1st test except that both the teams exchanged their roles. Whichever team wins today will win the series as well.
Somehow I get a feeling that this might be the last test for Sourav/Dravid and did not perform well in this series so far nor in their last series.

England had already lost the series and under normal circumstances this test should be matter of pride but since KP has takenover the captaincy, limelight is on KP more than anything else and its going to be the beginning of new era of England test cricket. Many think captaincy should impact his batting but few think otherways and time will only tell how KP fares as captain and as batsman during his captaincy.

By now everyone knows, Michael Vaughan has stepped down as England’s Captain after successfully delivering positive results in that prestigious position of leading international team for almost over 5 years. Actually it’s a bit of shocking news for me with Ashes on it’s way but his performance recently has been below average and it’s a well known secret that cricket boards and cricket fans don’t bother about captain’s performance as long as their side is winning but once the team loses captain has to take all the blame and if captain has poor performance record in recent times, it will obviously lead to these kind of decisions. So I’m not sure if I’m surprised or not but I knew Vaughan will quit soon but I thought it would be after important Ashes series. With Ashes few matches away(Around 9, starting July 2009) , that decision of Michael Vaughan will add only extra pressure to the next captain.

Day 3 went perfectly India’s way, first they restricted Sri Lanka for 292 giving India a lead of 37 runs in 1st innings and then they followed it up with decent batting performance from everyone. With Sourav and Laxman at the crease india should look forward to extend the lead to 350+. Sri Lanka need to restrict India below 300 to improve their chances of winning.

Collingwood finally delivers and what a perfect time to justify his selection despite poor performances recently . Few of the selectors will be relieved after collingwoods performance yesterday who came under lot of criticism recently over the selection.
England could not manage to get South Africa early as English fans must have expected but they managed to restrict them for a decent score. Resuming their 2nd innings, England lost wickets in hurry and at times it looked it’s all over for England but KP’s and Collingwood’s innings gave them a hope. With Collingwood and Ambrose at crease England should look forward to score another 150 runs so they can attack freely without thinking about giving away runs.
I wish we have live video streaming links unlike yesterday (Damn missed KP innings yesterday)

After long time we are bit late (15 mins) but the yesterday live cricket streaming links were working fine, well that’s no excuse but will try our best to make sure we won’t be late any time in near future.
Coming to cricket, India has enough reasons to take all honours on day 2 than Sri Lanka. Sehwags 200 and Harbhajans wicket haul put them in a comfortable position at the end of Day 2. India will be looking forward to pick atleast two wickets in the 1st session while Sri Lanka would like to bat out 1st session without losing wickets and get some lead. (BTW, while typing this Bhajji got his 5th wicket)
