As expected Pakistan won the series after winning the 3rd ODI which was dominated by Zimbabwe for initial couple of hours before Afridi blasted their bowlers all over the park and helped Pakistan to put a good total to defend and Pakistan won it comfortably.

With nothing at stake for both the teams, the rest of the two matches are more of a formality to complete the 5 match ODI series. Zimbabwe needs a win more desperately than Pakistan here in next two matches while Pakistan hope to continue thier winning streak and prepare themselves for the upcoming pak vs aus series.

Day 4 belonged to Aussies all the way, they not only got the lead but they are in more comfortable position than their opponents India. They ruled out all the possibilities for India pushing them for a win. The best result India can achieve has to be a draw but Aussies can still push for a victory. All they need to do is pick 9 more wickets in 1st two sessions as India will not declare at any cost with less than 200 on board and some slogging in the last session with Gilchrist and Hayden opening which will be perfect farewell for Gilchrist from test cricket. Well all that may sound too much optimistic but this is cricket and anything can happen.

Series seem to be already one sided with no competition from Zimbabwe. If Zimbabwe need to stay in the series they need to win today at any cost which seems to be not so easy looking at the way they performed in last two ODI’s. While Pakistan had different issues to handle like team selection and the player management but that should not affect the match in any way.

With Utseya ruled out of the match Zimbabwe will have a new captain and may be that can bring some luck to them and put some competition here today and provide some good cricketing entertainment.

Day 3 is just one of those bad days in Cricket where none of the teams could dominate even for a single session and both teams has reasons to justify. India blames Aussies for defensive and slow approach while Aussies blame Indian bowlers for persisting with off side line approach and the ball. Matt Hayden had delivered once again when team is in need and surpassed the Bradman’s record of Centuries scoring his 3rd consecutive century against India at Bradman’s home ground. Hayden is the most consistent opener over the last 8 years and what a service he is doing for Australian cricket. Ponting who is out of form played one of the slowest innings he may had ever played and never took a single chance to reach unbeaten 70 at the end of day 3.

Still if any team got a decent chance to win this it has to be India but the defensive approach India always adapts will not let them win. Assuming if India can get a lead of even 100 runs before lunch or even in the 2nd session, they will not declare before a lead of 350 because they don’t want to take any chance and thats how they have been playing their cricket for more than a decade which means they can’t play aggressively.

Lets hope one of the teams lose wickets quickly and make a match out of nothing for all the cricket fans out there rather than a dead match. Also lets hope to see some fireworks from Gilly who probably will be playing his last innings in test cricket today on international arena. It’s very hard for all the cricket fans across the world to take the Gilchrist retirement news and he will be missed by everyone no matter which team they support.

Half Centuries from both the Indian spinners after the early departure of Dhoni and Sachin on Day 2 put India in a commanding position from where the chance of losing are remote. After fall of Sachin’s wicket Australia must had thought of restricting India to score below 400 but Kumble and Bhajji played excellently to take India past 500. Australians were careful not to lose any wicket and played at a Run Rate of 3 which is not normal from Aussies.

To have a winning chance India need to restrict Aussies below 400 in the 1st innings before 1st session of Cricket on Day 4. Anything beyond 400, this match will be heading towards a draw with which Aussies will be happy looking at the India’s score in 1st Innings.

Hope the 4th test will shape up nicely by End of Day 3 and we get good cricket to watch.

West Indies will be playing without Gayle for the rest of the series and Gayle will be missed a lot who can single handedly change the shorter version of game.

Lets hope the rest of Windies players puts up a good show and show some fighting spirit and make series interesting. With the loss of Gayle the series is almost one sided and hope a some player will step up and fill in the boots of Gayle and change the equation.

Day 1, Kumble won the toss and decide to bat first which turned out to be a good decission at the end of Day 1. As usual the opening partnership did not last long and the wall Dravid did not last long who was in two minds to either play aggressive or defensively on a good batting wicket while Sehwag was scoring runs at quick pace on the other end which helped Team India not to panic. Tendulkar who is in great form continued from where he left while Aussies managed to put an end to Sewhag leaving Sourav and Sachin at the crease. Sourav again got out to Brad Hogg without scoring much (probably a bad decission) and India looked in all sorts of trouble but Laxman and Sachin steadied the ship and both went on to score fifty and century respectively before Laxman fell to Lee. Dhoni joined Sachin and played very defensive cricket and Sachin played his shots to reach 309/5 at the end of Day 1. Australian’s are bowling at very slow rate and hence had to miss few overs. Refree should ask Ponting to improve the over rate as they Aussies bowled slowly in Perth too.

First session on Day 2 will decide the momentum of the match, If India can manage to put another 100 runs with out losing not more than 2 wickets then Aussies will be on backfoot and will play for a draw. If Aussies want to win, they should not allow India to score more than 425 or else most probably they will lose or match may end as draw.

Pakistan started the series with a bang after Zimbabwe won the toss and asked them to bat on a batting track. Pakistan made use of oppurtunity and scored total beyond 300 which ruled out Zimbabwe even before their batting started. Everyone played very well from Pakistan view but one man needs to get credit and it has to be Nasir Jamshed who scored quick 50 on his debut and put Pakistan in commanding position right from the word go.

Hope Pakistan carries on momentum and win the rest of the matches as well. Hope we get to see great match like the 1st one.

After victory at Perth, Team India has oppurtunity to level the series by winning the last match of 4 match test series at Adelaide Oval where they won against Aussies in 2003(Credits to Dravid & Laxman). Things have a changed a lot and India has even much better side compared to the one in 2003 and there is no reason why India should not fancy every small chance of leveling the series. Most probably this will be will the last for all the fab 5 Indian players and a great opportunity to leave a footprint in Australia to be remembered for years to come by.

Aussie will be having Hayden back in the side whom they missed at perth and will satisfy with even a draw. Even though that’s not the attitude with what Aussies play but mathematically speaking draw will be good enough for winning the series.
