England should be blaming themselves for letting 1st test skip away from their hands and they kinda gave up on final day without a fight and they would be looking forward to win this one and level the series.

Australia tail really wagged and South African bowlers let too many runs go before picking the final Aussie wicket helping them reach 375. South Africa started carefully and was in good position just 10 overs before end of day but Mitchell Johnson seven wicket spell destroyed SA party before end of day. With Boucher at crease South Africa should look to add another 50 runs and later restrict Aussies to a lead less than 300 to have any chance to win this match.

Thursday, December 18th, 2008It’s even-steven at end of Day 1 @ Perth, both the teams must be happy with their performances and had their chance to take game away from opposition but could not manage to do it. Aussies are 9 down but they have got a decent total on board to defend, thanks to lower order and Katich. South Africa started of really well by picking 3 wickets early and at a stage it looked like they will get Aussies within 200 but Katich and Clarke started the rescue effort and quite nicely supported by rest of the lower order batsmam.
I expect South Africa to pick the last wicket in 1st 5 overs and come out to bat and start steadily like they always do while Aussies will be looking for wickets.

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Australia must be happy with their performances against New Zealand 2-0 in 2 match series after losing to India 2-0 in a 4 match series but New Zealand is not a good test team to confirm that Aussies are back to winning ways and this series against South Africa will be a real test for them.
South Africa is on rise in test cricket and to retain the 2nd position which is under threat from India, they need to win this series.
Hope to see quality cricket from top class teams over next 50 days where both teams will play 3 tests, 2 T20’s and 5 ODI’s.

Monday, December 15th, 2008Twin centuries from Strauss and century from collingwood did not put England in commanding position as many would have thought. Even though England got a great lead to defend and just when many pundits ruled out India chances of winning this game , Sehwag put them right back into the game and now both teams has got fair chance to win the game on Day 5. We got 90 overs and England need 9 wickets for a win while India need 256 runs and I don’t think draw is possible even if India score at runrate of 3.

Sunday, December 14th, 2008New Zealand almost had match under their control and were close to winning (Atleast had a chance) but Jerome Taylor screwed it up for them and probably one of the best innings from West Indies tailender just when needed to save the match. Chanderpaul as usual did his job holding the wicket on the other end as much as possible and now this match certainly gonna be endup as a draw unless one of the teams have worst day ever.

With lead around 250 already, things really don’t look good for India and first session on day 4 going to be extremely important for both the teams and if England dominate the 1st session, then India may end up playing for a draw for the rest of the match. With another 7 wickets in hand, England should be looking at adding another 150+ runs before they declare.
